COMPARISONS
Sygnet vs Klippa

I'll research Klippa first.Sygnet wrote this page, so read it with that in mind: we sell a competing product, and we have tried to keep the comparison to facts you can verify on Klippa's own site and on reputable review pages. Klippa, a Dutch vendor whose DocHorizon platform now operates under the name Doxis AI.dp after Klippa became part of Doxis, is a broad document automation suite: OCR, classification, verification, anonymisation, fraud detection, workflow building. Sygnet is narrower and newer: an intelligent document processing platform and API built around zero-shot extraction, per-field confidence, and field-level provenance, EU-hosted, priced per document, and currently in early access. If you need a no-code workflow builder with identity verification and anonymisation modules in the same product, Klippa is the more complete answer today, and we will say so again below.
At a glance
| Criterion | Klippa | Sygnet |
|---|---|---|
| Document types | Invoices, receipts, ID cards, passports, contracts and others; roughly 50+ document types out of the box, with the option to train models for custom types. Industry pages list wider sets including legal, HR, medical and logistics documents such as CMR and delivery notes | Any document type, including long and unusual ones, without a pre-built template per type |
| Setup and training | Modular workflow configuration: choose the input source, the document type, then the fields to extract; custom types can be handled by training models | No training step. You send a JSON schema, or let Sygnet infer one from the document |
| Extraction approach | OCR combined with AI techniques; OCR, classification, conversion, verification and fraud detection in one platform | Zero-shot extraction with schema inference. Background on the trade-offs: OCR vs VLM |
| Confidence and provenance | Not documented publicly in the sources we found; ask Klippa directly | Per-field confidence scores plus bounding-box coordinates for every value (field-level provenance) |
| Validation | Cross-checks documents and data points, verifies document authenticity, detects fraud | Validation rules per field and cross-document consistency checks |
| Review workflow | Full automation, business rule-based approval, or human-in-the-loop, depending on the use case | Human review routed only when confidence falls below your threshold |
| Deployment and hosting | Cloud-based platform; one review directory lists cloud, on-premise and hybrid deployment, which we would verify with the vendor | Cloud only, EU-hosted on Google Cloud europe-west1 |
| Compliance posture | GDPR and ISO 27001 certified software, per Klippa's own page | EU hosting, no training on customer documents. Details: security and compliance |
| Pricing model | Volume-based, varying with workflow complexity and subscription plan, with tailored quotes; pay-as-you-go starting with €25 in free credits; list prices are not published and require contacting sales | Per document, published on the pricing page |
| API and integration | REST APIs and an SDK, with documents arriving via interface, API or SDK; batch upload by web, email, phone, API, FTP or third-party integration | API-first, with webhooks and structured JSON output |
| Output formats | Conversion to JSON, XML, PDF, XLSX and CSV | JSON matching your schema |
| Languages | More than 150 languages, per Klippa's G2 listing | Not published as a language count; the extraction model is not language-specific by design |
| Maturity | Klippa states 1000+ brands and a 4.8 out of 5 rating from 31 Capterra reviews | Early access |
Where Klippa is strong
Breadth is the real argument for Klippa. The platform does not stop at extraction: it also masks and anonymises data, converts formats, classifies and sorts documents, verifies customer identity and checks document authenticity. That matters if your project is really three projects (capture, KYC, redaction) and you would rather buy one contract than stitch together three vendors.
The configuration model is approachable for non-engineers. You pick an out-of-the-box workflow or assemble your own from modules in a few steps, and documents can arrive by web, email, phone, API, FTP or a third-party integration. Few IDP products accept that many intake channels without custom glue code.
There is also a track record. Klippa publishes GDPR and ISO 27001 certification and claims more than 1000 brands, and the product supports batch processing and direct integration into ERP, CRM, accounting and e-invoicing systems. Entry is cheap to test: a pay-as-you-go model with €25 in free credits. For a finance team digitising invoices and receipts at steady volume, that is a sensible, low-risk starting point.
Where Sygnet is strong
Sygnet is built for documents that resist templating. Zero-shot extraction with schema inference means you describe the fields you want in JSON and get them back, including for a document type nobody anticipated: a shareholders' agreement, an unusual medical report, a one-off lease agreement. There is no model to train and no template to maintain, which removes the main source of ongoing cost in classic IDP.
The second difference is auditability. Every extracted field carries a confidence score and bounding-box coordinates pointing at the exact place on the page the value came from. Reviewers verify in seconds instead of hunting through a PDF, and your exception queue can be driven by numbers rather than by sampling. Validation rules and cross-document checks catch the errors that look plausible field by field: totals that do not reconcile, a name on an ID that disagrees with the one on a payslip.
Human review is routed only when confidence is low, so throughput scales with document difficulty rather than document count. Hosting is EU-only (Google Cloud europe-west1) and we do not train on customer documents. Pricing is per document and published. Sygnet is in early access, which is a genuine limitation.
Which one for which team
- Pick Klippa if you need identity verification, anonymisation and fraud checks alongside extraction, and you want them from one vendor under one contract. That combination (fraud detection, data masking, security compliance) is explicitly part of the product.
- Pick Klippa if non-technical staff will own the configuration and documents arrive by email, phone photos and FTP as much as by API.
- Pick Sygnet if your document mix is long-tail and keeps changing: due diligence rooms, contract analysis, mixed insurance claims files. Template maintenance is what kills these projects.
- Pick Sygnet if an auditor, regulator or adjuster will ask where a number came from, and you need a page coordinate rather than a guess.
- Evaluate both if you are a regulated EU buyer with high volume. Klippa's certifications are published; Sygnet's EU-only hosting and no-training policy are documented on our security page. Run the same hundred documents through each and compare cost per correct field, not headline accuracy.
FAQ
Is Klippa still called Klippa?
The product has been rebranded. Klippa's own DocHorizon page now presents the platform as Doxis AI.dp, formerly Klippa DocHorizon, and states that Klippa is now Doxis. If you are comparing vendors in 2026, expect to see both names in search results, documentation and third-party review listings. Contracts, support channels and the pricing process may all sit under the Doxis brand, so confirm with the vendor.
How does pricing compare?
Honestly, we cannot give you a number for Klippa, because there is not one to give. Klippa states that pricing depends on volume, workflow complexity and subscription plan, with tailored quotes and lower per-document costs at high volume, and third-party reviewers note that list prices are not published. Sygnet publishes per-document rates on its pricing page. Our ROI calculator helps model review cost, which usually dominates licence cost.
Can I try either one before committing?
Klippa offers a low-friction entry: a pay-as-you-go model starting with €25 of free credits. Sygnet is in early access, so trials are granted case by case rather than self-serve. In both cases, test with your own worst documents: creased scans, phone photos, multi-page annexes. Clean sample invoices tell you very little about production behaviour, as we argue in accuracy vs cost per correct answer.
